Gulf Shores Alabama, part 1 of 3
We arrived at the Luxury RV Resort in Gulf Shores without incidence on January 10th. The park is nice, small park (90 spots +/-), and is two blocks (walking distance) from the public beach which is very nice and well kept. The park has paved drives, sidewalks, and the management is very nice and accommodating. The weather here has been around 60-70 during the day and 40-50 at night. The sun is hot. If you are in it you will toast and if you are not you will be chilled. On a still morning you can hear the ocean an smell the surf. The other campers here have been nice. There are a few couples that have traveled together but most keep to themselves. We are next to the Wade Ward Nature park where there are a bunch of different birds and a very nice wooden boardwalk. I take Jake (dog) there just about every day.

Within a few days of arriving we went to Mikees Seafood. We learned about this place when we came here last year with our friends Kenny & Angie. It was/is great, if you are ever in the area, you should go!
I needed a hair cut, we needed to go grocery shopping, and Renee needed some stuff from Buff City so we headed to Pensacola, about an hours drive. We stopped at Buff City first then head to Sonny’s Barbecue, um good! After a 45 min nap (just kidding) we headed to NAS (Navel Air Station) Pensacola, home to the Blue Angels. Renee shopped at the commissary while I got a $11 hair cut and it was certainly worth the $11 but not much more. Haha.
Then a few days later we went to “The Gift Horse Restaurant” in Foley AL, we like to eat! Its in the old town district in a building that was built in the early 1900’s, very cool. For $20 you get a unlimited buffet. Antique store and large conference room next door.
One morning I got up and discovered a low tire… aired it up with my truck’s on-board compressor. Next day, the same thing. Took it to a local shop and they pulled this out of it. New tire $372. Yikes!
Went to Fort Morgan this past week, located on Mobile Point, at the end of Scenic Fort Morgan Peninsula.
Preceded by another fort, Fort Bowyer during the War of 1812, Fort Morgan is a Third System masonry fort built between 1819 and 1833. Standing guard where the bay meets the Gulf of Mexico, the fort played a significant role in the Battle of Mobile Bay in August 1864. Used intermittently through the Spanish American War, World War I and World War II, the site showcases the evolution of seacoast fortifications and adaptations made by the U.S. Army for the defense of the country. In 1946 the site was turned over to the State of Alabama as a historic site.

Then we went to the Alabama Zoo. Very nice place, lots of animals, and the size is manageable, not to big, not to small.
